Salt water fly fishing a brand new sport. It combines the fly casting of trout fishermen with the large ocean fish that until recently, could only be caught using spinner or overhead reels. Lures were used but they didnt have the same flair as tying your own fly and catching a trout or another freshwater fish. Salt water fish are not harder to catch but they are a lot more powerful and large, this is why fly fishermen could not catch salt water fish in the past. They just could not hold them on their tiny 1 or 2 weight rods. New 7/8 or 8/9 rods have come out and they are perfect. They have enough strength to hold a large fish but are also light enough to be able to cast fly's long distances. I am only new to the sport but already love it.
